01 — The Problem

A better way to share your home

Owning a second home is often thought of as a luxury, but managing who gets to use it rarely feels like one. For most property owners, sharing their home with family and close friends means a constant back-and-forth of messages, scheduling conflicts, and manual coordination that can make generosity feel like a chore.

Existing platforms like Airbnb are built around renting to strangers. When you want to share your home with people you actually know and trust, those tools feel completely wrong. There was no purpose-built platform for intentional, relationship-based home sharing.

PrivadaKey was built to fill that gap. My role was to understand what property owners and guests actually needed, identify where the early product was falling short, and translate those findings into design decisions.

"The core design challenge was not just building a booking tool. It was designing a system that felt personal, trusted, and radically simpler than what people were used to, without losing the flexibility that real relationships require."
